I've formed an event on Facebook to discover if it's possible to earn a living playing music in San Diego. There are quite a few venues in San Diego that do not pay musicians for playing at their venues or festivals. Have you developed a strategy for making money as a musician in San Diego, and if so, are you willing to share it with other musicians? Please include links, videos and comments.

I have a new video on my YouTube page. It is by a Japanese animator named Takeuchi Taijin. He has allowed me to put my music for Too Tired on the video and it works in a weird way. Have you ever heard of playing Dark Side of the Moon along with The Wizard of Oz? It's something like that. So if you'd like to see it, please go to:

I'm playing SD Artwalk this weekend. If you've never been there, it's quite impressive. There are a ton of booths featuring San Diego artists and photographers selling and displaying their wares, and a host of San Diego musicians playing in various locations throughout the area in Little Italy. We're in the same location as last year, probably near the gigantic floating burrito at the edge of the event at India and Grape streets.

Celebrating 25 Years
This year, Mission Federal ArtWalk celebrates our 25th anniversary. The festival takes place on April 25
& 26, 2009, from Noon - 6pm. The streets of Little Italy in
downtown San Diego will be filled with fine art, music and dance
performances, activities for children and families, and delicious food
and beverages. Don't miss this spectacular event.
I'm still dealing with some technical issues but Marielle is now on MySpace. If you go to the middle left hand side of my page, you can find it there. I got a glimpse at it on Facebook and it looked pretty good but now it's disappeared. And YouTube - love the concept - hate the video quality. I'm going to slowly start loading it onto other websites so if you hear of anything new, please drop me a line. It's also on watch and discuss.com and if enough of you vote for it, it might get on VH1.
The story of the song Marielle is in an earlier blog, but the story of the video starts with a Craig's List ad. The song was doing pretty well on the KIAC Big 50 (it's currently Number 23), and I thought that might be a good excuse to make a video. So I ran an ad in Craig's List in Manhattan.

Seeking Actress with DV Camera
I'm looking for an actress who has or has access to a DV camera. I'm shooting a music video in San Diego for a song called Marielle. I'm looking for source footage for a TV as part of the video shoot. Ideally, what I'd like to get as footage is a day in the life of a young woman in New York City. At the end of the video, the actress would appear with a guy, as if the footage was shot by a boyfriend on a day trip to New York City. Looking for various locations around NY including WTC site. If you already have this footage, even better. Must be DV. 24P would be great, but not necessary. I can be more specific about what I'm looking for if you're interested, so email above for more info. To listen to the song, go here:

As of this week, the song is Number 33 on this chart, so do a search for Marielle if you read this ad after Thursday Oct. 2, or justscroll down to 33 on the chart. If you'd like to get an idea of other information, music, and video, go to:
http://www.myspace.com/metapunk
If you'd like to see examples of other videos I have edited, then go to my resume page at:
http://www.metalogicmusic.com/resume.htm
There is a demo reel at the bottom, or if you'd like to see full videos, go to the favorites section of:
http://www.youtube.com/metapunker
I can provide you with a DV and DVD copy of the final video, alongwith YouTube links, and a copy of the day in the life video which will be the source video for the final music video. I might have someone to shoot it if you don't have DV camera...

So Loydeen answered my ad. I know amazingly little about Loydeen. We've traded a lot of emails, we've had one or two phone conversations, and that's about it. I saw something on Facebook about her appearance on the season finale of Lipstick Jungle, but until I get her bio, she is simply a mystery to me. I'll probably update the blog when I get some more information. But somehow she decided to shoot the video in New York over the holidays and did an amazing job with the footage. I gave her a simple story to tell, and she did it, sent me the tapes, and I've been working on it for the last couple of weeks.
Oh yeah, and The Naked Cowboy is even in it...
If you get a chance to see it, leave a comment.
I've been working on a new video for the song Marielle, which is currently on the KIAC Big 50 at Number 23. The video stars Loydeen Pulsifer as Marielle, and also features Robert Nuzzie. The video was shot in New York City by Robert and Loydeen, and even features an appearance by The Naked Cowboy. It's looking great so far, and I think it will be on MySpace and YouTube in a little more than a week from now. If you'd like to hear the song, please go to:
